Ferrari is a myth for all motorcar enthusiasts. The abbreviation GTO stands for “Gran Turismo Omologato“, and means that the road-going model of a sports car also has the homologation for racing series.

The Ferrari 250 GTO, whose image is on the top of the coin, was built in the years 1962 until 1964. Several series were built, however only 39 were produced. Today such an exemplar is traded for a current value of at least 14 million Euros.

The latest model of the GTO series is the 599. For this model Ferrari used the traditional V12-motor. The world premiere of the 599 GTO took place at the end of April 2010. The six litre engine displacement and the concentrated power of 670 horsepower shoots this new Ferrari, in the true sense of the word, from naught to one hundred km/h in only 3.35 seconds. Only when the red Italian reaches a speed of 335 km/h it is at its peak. Therefore it is one of the fastest ever built Ferrari models. Here it is obvious which major role the legendary seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher had in the development.

Alone the price and the engine power of this racer takes ones breath away let alone having the chance to posses and to drive one of these splendid specimens which are limited to 599 exemplar.

In 2010 the myth Ferrari GTO lives on!
