The Cherry Blossom is not only visually beautiful but has been used as the subject for poems and songs over and over again since time immemorial. As Japan‘s national flower, the famous Cherry Blossom has a very special status. It is the Japanese epitome of the sense of beauty and awakening. Furthermore, it symbolises the arrival of spring in the land of the rising sun. It depicts the end of the cold winter and that the warmer seasons are on their way.

The Cherry Blossom Season lasts a little less than two weeks, however the actual full blossoms can only be marvelled for three to four days. During this lively period, most Japanese celebrate the legendary Cherry Blossom festival. At the “Hanami“, the traditional celebration with family and friends, mostly takes place in a beautiful park and the joy of witnessing the blooming trees is shared amongst each other. A piece of this joy is eternalised through an artistically designed Cloisonné-Blossom in this beautiful silver coin.
