Ducati is an Italian motorbike manufacturer with a long and eventful company history. In 1926 Adriano and Marcello Ducati set up the business which initially produced prefabricated parts for radios. In 1935 the factory was built in Borgo Panigale near Bologna and even today it is Ducati?s head office.

Not until after the Second World War Ducati constructed the first motorised bicycles. These were equipped with a ?Cucciolo?(auxiliary motor) and were produced until the middle of the fifties, already then without involvement of the Ducati family.

In 1948 five circular track rounds with a Cucciolo and the long-distance race from Milan to San Marino in the 55cc class were won. Therewith the foundation stone for an enduring sport tradition was placed. Since the initiation of the Superbike World Championship in 1988 Ducati has won 13 driver and 15 constructing engineer World Championships.

The last Superbike World Championship titles were won by the Australians Casey Stoner in 2007 and Troy Bayliss in the years 2006 and 2008 (both on a Ducati).
