The Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, which is 6.299 km long and was built by the German architect Hermann Tilke, is a very special racetrack. It was built in the middle of the Arabian Desert. Next to the heat especially the sand- and dust particles cause great difficulties for the cars. The consequences are frequent engine troubles as well as gear and break problems. The tyres are also challenged to their limit on this dirty track.

On March 14, 2010 the Scuderia Ferrari mastered all these obstacles convincingly. After his start from the third position the Spanish racer Fernando Alonso took the lead as from the middle of the race and was able to retain the lead up until the end. His Brazilian team-mate Felipe Massa who started from the second position ensured a double victory for Scuderia Ferrari.

Fernando Alonso’s opening victory was at the same time his premiere for the Italian racing team. Long before Alonso signed a three-year contract with the red team in the year 2009 there were speculations about the Spaniards changeover. Today he is a proud regular Ferrari F10 pilot. The Ferrari F10 has a V8-aggregate with a 2.4 litre capacity. Including the driver and the fuel it only weighs 620 kilograms.

With the double victory in Bahrain the F10 and its two drivers made a big piece of history for Ferrari.
