Without a doubt, Albrecht Dürer is the greatest artist of the German Renaissance. “Wing of a European Roller” in watercolor was painted at the beginning of the 16th century. It was a part of a comprehensive series
of images of plants and animals, eventually published in the “Proportionslehre” collection. During painting, the artist used a specimen of a dead animal, thanks to which he obtained an accurate representation of the plumage. Its miniature reproduction on a silver blank perfectly complements the collection of a true art connoisseur.
