The World’s Greatest Artists collection represents a series of the coins, dedicated
to the artists who changed the notion of beauty and harmony. The first
coin of the series, produced from 2 oz of silver 999, is dedicated to Leonardo
da Vinci. Adorned with a wonderful reproduction of «Mona Lisa», the coin
features a high relief profile of the artist.
Known not only as the artist, but also as inventor, da Vinci left a great heritage
of his diaries with sketches, schemes and research in different spheres. One of
such inventions, the sfumato technique, was used in «Mona Lisa». With sfumato,
the contours of the image are softened by adding a delicate haze.
