Discover the story of a man who challenged the laws of physics and became an icon
of the golden age of speed. Sir Malcolm Campbell, the legendary racing driver,
made history in 1925 on Pendine Sands in Wales, when he became the first to break
the 150 mph barrier, reaching a record 242 km/h behind the wheel of his “Blue Bird.”
This official €5 issue, created in cooperation with the Central Bank of Malta,
commemorates that triumph in one ounce of fine silver.
