Description
Salvator Mundi (Latin for Savior of the World) is a traditional depiction of Jesus,
who gives his blessing with his right hand and holds a royal apple or a globe
topped with a cross in his left hand. Leonardo da Vinci broke the convention
and presented Christ holding a glass ball – a futuristic symbol of the universe at
the time. In 2017, this renaissance work of art was sold for precisely 450 million
dollars! It is still being speculated who the original author of the painting was.
However, these controversies only raise the work’s value.
