Albrecht Dürer (May 21, 1471 ? April 6, 1528) is regarded as the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance and one of the best printmakers of all time. Famous for his religious works, numerous portraits and self-portraits and highly appreciated for his signifi cant input to the developement of engraving. In order to make the coin of this series more attractive, the Mint of Poland decided to employ the etching technique, which makes this coin distinguished from the rest of the collection. This method, innovative mong the collector coins, was used on the obverse of the coin, thus enabling to copy a well-known engraved 1504 ?Adam and Eve? portrait in the tiniest detail and with utmost perfection.
