Although Marilyn Monroe has been dead for more than 50 years, she is still very current. In a very short time she achieved what few people had before her, or ever will – “immortality“.

Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1st, 1926 and grew up with very strict foster-parents and at times in an orphanage. Later, when she became famous and the world was her oyster, she suffered from depression, increasingly so in the last years of her life. Owing to the constant pressures and her misfortune with men, she was never at peace with herself. She died in the night from Saturday to Sunday, August 4th to 5th, 1962, of an acute drug overdose.

Following are two quotes from Marilyn Monroe, which illustrate her state of mind.

“A career is wonderful, but you can’t curl up with it on a cold night.“

“Hollywood is a place where they’ll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul.“
