The reverse of the coin represents the Lion of Lucerne, the famous sculpture carved out of a natural rock face in Lucerne, Switzerland. The sculpture features a lion wounded by the invaders’ spear. The lion, entirely polished, distinguishes himself from the other areas of the design. The paw is placed upon a shield bearing the symbol of the French monarchy. On the reverse, also the inscriptions: “HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI” – meaning “to the faith and virtues of the Swiss” and “LÖWENDENKMAL LUZERN” – the name of the coin. On the obverse, the Effigy of King Charles III, along with the inscriptions: “5 DOLLARS” – the face value, “CHARLES III” – the name of the King, “2024” – the year of issue and “COOK ISLANDS” – the issuing country.
