This is the second edition of the coin series “Hole Cards“. These cards also referred to as the starting hand, are the cocealed cards which a gambler receives in various poker versions. In the game Texas Hold‘em, the most popular and mostly played version at the moment, each gambler receives two cards.

The gamblers use several nicknames for the combination of these two cards. There are over 1‘300 possible start hand combinations. Two Kings are mainly called “Cowboys“. Other nicknames are King Kong or Kangaroos.

There is only a 45% chance of receiving two Kings. This second highest Hole Card combination is normally played aggressively before the flop (the first three community cards) is drawn. This means that during the first betting round many chips are placed in the pot (raise, re-raise, or mainly at a later tournament phase also all-in). The gamblers do this to safeguard the Kings as a single Ace pair would win the round.
