Using the latest Smartminting©️ technology the leaf has perfect relief with fine details. The coin has a black proof finish with color and is struck on a 38.61mm 1oz pure silver blank in the highest quality. It has a limited mintage of only 499 pcs worldwide and comes in a beautiful box with Certificate of Authenticity. The reverse of the coin depicts the well known cannabis leaf in color with a multitude of these leaves in the background in Smartminted©️ relief, together with the inscriptions: “cannabis sativa” and “2021” (the year of issue).
The obverse side of the coin depicts the standard Coat of Arms of the Republic of Benin with the inscriptions: “REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN” (the issuing country) and “1000 FRANCS CFA” (the face value).
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants that includes three putative species, Cannabis sativa L., Cannabis indica Lam., and Cannabis ruderalis Janisch. These three taxa are indigenous to Central Asia, and South Asia. Cannabis has long been used for fibre (hemp), for medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug. Industrial hemp products are made from Cannabis plants selected to produce an abundance of fiber and minimal levels of THC, a psychoactive molecule that produces the “high” associated with marijuana. The psychoactive product consists of dried flowers and leaves of plants selected to produce high levels of THC. Various extracts including hashish and hash oil are also produced from the plant.
