Description
The floral clock coin takes its inspiration from the study that the Swedish botanist Carl Nilsson Linnaeus (1707-1778) made on the phenomenon of flowers opening.
Linnaeus spent his life observing and cataloguing plants, organised them according to the opening time of their corollas and thus constructed a kind of floral clock, exploiting their asynchronous opening characteristic.
Each flower ‘wakes up’ at a certain time, some early in the morning, others need the hot midday sun to open. Thus realising a real clock whose hours are marked by the opening of the flowers.
The coin is based on the faithful reconstruction of the 18th century floral clock, without renouncing to bring it up to date with the colours that not only enhance its beauty, but also remind us of a flowery field and give us a glimpse of nature.
