Description
The fourteenth release in the acclaimed Legendary Warriors series honors Arminius, the Germanic chieftain whose leadership changed the course of European history. Born in Germania and raised within the Roman military system, Arminius gained a deep understanding of Roman tactics and discipline. In 9 AD, he united several Germanic tribes and led them to victory in the famous Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, where three Roman legions were destroyed. This decisive defeat halted Rome’s expansion deeper into Germania and transformed Arminius into a lasting symbol of freedom, resistance, and national unity. The coin’s reverse depicts the fierce warrior in battle, raising a gilded sword as Roman soldiers struggle beneath his attack, while detailed forest scenes in the background reference the legendary ambush. Selective gold plating highlights key elements of the design, creating a striking contrast against the antique finish and emphasizing the dramatic high-relief sculpting. The obverse features an impressive arrangement of historical weapons surrounding the coat of arms of Niue, reinforcing the military theme of the series. Struck from 2 oz of .999 fine silver, this 45 mm collectible is issued by Niue with a face value of 5 Dollars and a limited mintage of only 500 pieces worldwide. Each coin is presented in a display box and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
