Available at distributors worldwide.
Coin description
In the center of the reverse is a vivid, full-color depiction of the Sagittarius zodiac sign in space style, rendered in stunning detail. The name of the sign is integrated into the central image as part of the design. Surrounding the central motif are all twelve zodiac icons—Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces—each finely illustrated to represent its unique astrological symbol. Together, they form a celestial ring that frames the artwork and emphasizes the complete zodiac cycle.
The obverse side of the coin features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Ghana at its center. Surrounding the Coat of Arms is a complete zodiac calendar, with all twelve zodiac icons arranged in a circular pattern. The inscriptions include: “REPUBLIC OF GHANA” (the issuing country), “2025” (the year of issue), and “FIVE CEDIS” (the face value).
Background information
The Zodiac is an ancient system of astrology dividing the sky into twelve segments, each linked to a constellation and calendar period. These signs—Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces—are believed to shape personality, behavior, and life direction. Originating from Babylonian astronomy and refined by the Greeks, the zodiac continues to be an influential framework for interpreting human nature and cosmic influences across various cultures.
Sagittarius, the ninth sign of the zodiac (November 22–December 21), is ruled by Jupiter and symbolized by the Archer. Adventurous, optimistic, and philosophical, Sagittarians are seekers of truth and meaning. Their fiery enthusiasm propels them toward new experiences and ideas. Known for their humor and honesty, they inspire others with their expansive vision. Sagittarius embodies boundless curiosity and the joy of discovery.
