This 2 oz silver coin is the first release in the new Empires of Crime series, dedicated to the most notorious underworld figures in history. Struck in .999 silver with ultra-high relief and an antique finish enhanced by selective gilding, it portrays the rise of Al Capone during the turbulent Prohibition era of 1920s Chicago. The city was dominated by corruption, bootlegging, and violent power struggles, and Capone emerged as the most influential and feared figure of them all. His rule was built on loyalty, fear, and a ruthlessly enforced code—symbolized by the infamous scene in which he demonstrated the cost of betrayal using a baseball bat. The reverse captures this brutal moment with vivid detail: Capone standing over a fallen man, his men surrounding him, the environment thick with tension and danger. The obverse features an ornate composition built around the national emblem, framed by stylized motifs that evoke the criminal empire he once controlled. Issued by Cameroon as 2000 Francs CFA legal tender, the coin measures 45 mm and weighs 62.2 g.
